It?s not that my belly had any
room to spare after the crock of creamy spinach and artichoke
dip and the two-inch-thick maple-glazed pork chop (and it?s a
good thing I didn?t order that side of broccolini). It?s just
that the classic children?s rationale still holds true for me:
there?s always room for dessert.
And caramel anything is an
automatic contender. Add brioche to the mix, and it?s a done
deal. While some bread puddings look better on paper than what
ends up on your plate, this is hardly the case at West
Roxbury?s West on Centre. A banana-lover?s triple whammy, the
banana bread pudding comes oval-shaped and decadent: an inch
of spongy baked brioche with a thin, crisp crust, surrounded
by a moat of warm, caramel-sauced banana slices. Oh, and don?t
forget the topping: a delicious scoop of buttermilk-banana ice
cream.
